Once again, the pond delivers a fabulously poetic experience. October’s Poem, begun last winter, is a lyrical study of complex light, layered reflections, and floating leaves. I can still feel the soft morning air and warmth. Hope you can too!

Technical painting notes: The painting was begun with a roll-up of dark brown and reddish brown oil paint, which was selectively wiped away to create lights, spritzed with solvents, and textured with plastic wrap. Once the base layer was dry, a long process of applying glazes alternating with direct painting followed. Glazes were scraped into while wet and  edges were softened. The layered leaves on the surface were built up gradually. Details below.
